How can i put shadows underneath my desktop icon contained by Windows XP?

it used to enjoy the shadows around the icon but very soon it just have a solid box around the icon and course book

First go to start->my computer->right click and select properties

-->advanced and click on settings for reading

under the optical effects and tick use drop shadows for icons.
